I'm a Master Certified Life Coach

I am so proud of this!

I got my certification through the Martha Beck Wayfinder Master Coach Program. The program lasted 8 months (I started in spring 2019).

Before being eligible to apply for that program, I had to get certified through the regular Wayfinder Life Coach Program (a 10 month program).

If you’re wondering, “What exactly is a life coach? Can’t anybody say they are a ‘life coach’?

Sure, they can…

But wouldn’t you rather work with somebody who has the professional credentials to back up their claims?

These were rigorous programs involving:

  • written and oral examinations

  • many observed coaching sessions (with feedback from instructors)

  • hundreds of required practice coaching hours

  • recorded coaching calls with feedback from mentors

In other words, becoming a Master Coach required a lot of hard work and commitment!

And I’ll be honest…

I am more proud of this achievement than I am of my law degree! 😅

Why? Because this career path lines up with my true self. I was born to help people transform into their best selves.

And the tools Martha created in these programs work. In fact, they are some of the only tools that have ever actually worked for me (and my clients).

I started reading self-help books around age 15.

I was willing to try anything to feel better (I’ve experienced depression, anxiety and body image issues starting from a young age).

It wasn’t until discovering Martha’s work that I experienced true change. My life really did begin to improve in tangible ways! (More on this below!)

Ok, if you’re still wondering what a life coach does, I’ll explain. It might surprise you!

As a coach, I don’t begin with goal-setting.

Instead, I partner with clients to help them access their inner wisdom.

They’ve already got the answers within them. My job is to help them access and act on that information.

This means I don’t offer advice about what I think they should do (!!!).

Many people assume a life coach will help a client set up goals and drive toward them, offering advice along the way.

But I am humble enough to know that the only person who can know your right life path is… YOU! ❤️

Here’s how I used coaching tools to ‘steer’ my own life in the right direction

Martha’s big thing is: “If you love it, do more of it. If you hate it, do less of it.

Sounds obvious, right?! It wasn’t easy for me as someone trying to make everybody around me happy!

I started asking myself, “What did I love? What was I passionate about? What brought me joy?”

As a type-A, ambitious, overachiever… these were new questions I hadn’t considered!!! I didn’t even know what I liked!

In 2014, during my last year of law school, I realized a couple of things:

  1. I love fitness. I love the gym. I love encouraging people to envision a stronger, fitter version of themselves.

  2. I don’t love being an attorney. I struggle focusing at work. I find it boring. I’m easily distracted. I feel sick to my stomach driving to work each day.

So my first big “self-coaching” leap was… to quit my job as an attorney and become a personal trainer!

Was that scary? HECK YES IT WAS! So freaking scary!

But it was worth it.

Here I am, almost 8 years later — a successful trainer, nutrition coach & life coach.

I love the direction of my life. I am living authentically.

Is there anything better? 💕
